Abstract

It has been found that the enforcement of speed limits is a measure which makes it possible to influence both the number of traffic accidents and the resultant damage. Which objectives should be adapted in choosing speed limits for different road and traffic environments has not yet been studied in sufficient detail. This report accounts for some feasible guiding objectives, which have been used to provide a basis for a proposed speed limit system.
