Abstract

A preliminary study was conducted to evaluate the side and oblique impact performance of the Thor thorax, pelvis and shoulder. After evaluating Thor's response, minor modifications were made and the response of the modified dummy was evaluated. Test protocols defined by International Standards Organisation (ISO) 9790 were used to conduct side pendulum impact studies on the thorax, shoulder and pelvis. Oblique impact tests were conducted using test protocols developed by the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) to test cadavers. Details of test protocols used and comparisons of the dummy responses with appropriate cadaver corridors are presented. (A)
