Abstract

A review is presented of 14 studies on children's road crossing behaviour. The object of this report was twofold. (1) to present a data base on what we know about children's crossing behaviour: (2) to outline the methodological possibilities and difficulties when carrying out observational studies of this kind. For the separate road sections, pavement, curb and roadway it is described how personal, social, traffic and roadway variables influence pedestrian behaviour.
