Abstract

Research presently being undertaken to improve vehicle safety belt design is described. Current types of restraining system are also described briefly and a comparison is made between them in terms of occupant kinetics relative to the occupant compartment. Measures to improve the geometry of the belt and hence increase its comfort are also described as are measures to improve seat belt performance.
