Abstract
A complete survey is presented from the initial invention until this invention is granted a patent and could be exploited commercially. The various difficulties that could be encountered, the legal consequences, the Dutch and Belgian patent regulations, patent policies in the Common Market and behind the Iron Curtain, financial and fiscal aspects and statistical data about the Patent Office are discussed.
