Abstract

The aim of this research was to give an empirical support to the assertion that drivers' records are a valid measure of driving behaviour. It is known that in a confidential interview most drivers will report more accidents and traffic convictions than the official files will list for them. However, for a small number of respondents it is usual to find in the official records some accidents and convictions which the subjects failed to report.
