Abstract

Increasingly, the ability to drive is an important element in an elderly person's sense of well-being. Although older drivers are the safest group per number of licensed drivers, they crash more per mile driven and suffer more serious injuries and more frequent fatalities than younger drivers in a crash. The Driving Decisions Workbook is being tested to see whether it can help older drivers assess their own risks and help their caregivers and families guide discussions about safer driving practices.
