Abstract

This paper discusses recommendations which would facilitate older people's mobility. These include: a) improve both the layout and design of shopping precincts and pavement surfaces to cater for the older generation; b) street lighting; c) public transport. Traffic calming measures are also advocated to reduce the accident rate amongst the older pedestrians and cyclists.
