Abstract

UK Government research on transport for older people is outlined in the slides from a computer presentation. This research is intended to develop better understanding of older people's current and future needs and to analyse the impact of policies on different social groups. Unmet needs centre around the frequency, cost and accessibility of transport. Improvements in the role of doctors and opticians, in the reliability and information availability of public transport, and in footways and road safety devices are among the suggestions made.
