Abstract
In assignment models, persons are assigned to a (simplified road network, using (predicted) origin-destination data. Detailed knowledge of car occupancy is needed in order to translate this flow of people into a flow of vehicles. Statistics from the Netherlands Central Bureau of Statistics are not usable because the occupancy data is distance weighted, and visual observations lack the essential information concerning the trip purpose.
