Abstract
Accident data on railway crossings are given for 1972 including collisions between the train and vehicles or pedestrians. Comparisons are made with data of the previous years and difference is made between the accidents which occurred on protected crossings and those occurring on semi-protected or unprotected crossings. A "near-miss " accident study was carried out at the railway crossing thereby considering the aspects of visibility.
