Abstract

A study is made to the fear for offences and crimes in the Netherlands. The most prominent fear is from a young woman who is afraid for being raped. Other problem areas of fear are unemployment (51%), crime (15%), economic situation (14%), pollution of the environment (10%), drug use (4%), traffic unsafety (3%), and the conflict between the generations (2%). Feelings of unsafety are less than commonly stated in the Netherlands.
