A preliminary study has been carried out relating to the evaluation of an experimental moped driver training scheme in the province Limburg. In the framework of this study the driver training is further developed, criteria for comprehension and skill are drawn up, instruction methods are developed, two marketing studies were executed and a set-up for the evaluation was made. It is shown that the criteria fulfil the requirements fairly well, but improvements are still possible. Also it is concluded that the price of the whole training course was an obstacle to participation. However even when the training course is free, the readiness to participate in the course is very low. Most of the moped drivers can not be motivated sufficiently without a legal obligation to follow a training course.
