Abstract

In the Nederlands the unconditional confiscation of the driving licence was prosecuted to 15.588 traffic offenders in 1966 and to 21.573 in 1972. A study has been made to the effect of these penalties. Emphasis is laid on the questions if such a confiscation leads to the real stopping of driving and which wanted or unwanted effects this sanction has for the offenders and how the offenders appreciate and have to put up with these effects.
