Abstract
Different developments in society require another, more eminent public transport. The question is however how this will be possible and in particular which consequences it will have for the existing public transport and if these consequences will be desirable from the social point of view. This paper discusses a series of criteria for a well balanced selection between the different strategies. It is important to know already that improvement of public transport can be only possible with the joint effort from the central government and the public transport companies.
