Abstract

The main objectives of Opel's ESV program are based on an upper weight limit of 2200 pounds, the use of conventional materials, and keeping in mind the possibility of high volume production. The present status of the program is discussed, and progress in the areas of energy management, occupant protection as well as vehicle control and handling are mentioned.
