Abstract

The United States Department of Transportation's Model Deployment Initiative program is integrating and extending the existing ITS infrastructure in four metropolitan regions: New York City (including suburban portions of the states of New Jersey and Connecticut), Phoenix, San Antonio and Seattle. A key objective in these deployments is to yield data about the approaches that should be promulgated to the other 71 metropolitan areas in the United States ITS Infrastructure roll-out. This paper summarizes the initial analysis of the National ITS Architecture contractor team who are supporting the four Model Deployment Initiative regions to achieve common ITS interfaces using or leading to open standards based on the United States National ITS Architecture. This paper discusses those common interfaces across the four regions that have been identified.
