Abstract

This study tries to give an answer to the following questions: (1) In what fields private and public transport means are applied, and to what extent do these fields overlap; and (2) what are the transport markets of distributive public transport from a quality perspective, within the conditions of the future linking public transport ? To get a grip on these questions, a method has been developed to analyse systematically the quality of the combinations of transport systems for different subsectors. The following key concepts are distinguished: (a) subsectors: parts of the total transport demand with corresponding characteristics; and (b) combinations of used transport systems: the modes or combination of the modes or combination of modes to make a trip. The core of the analysis is the confrontation of subsectors with combination of used systems. (A)
