Abstract

A considerable task for public transport is set in SVV- II: sharp increase in number of passengers without increasing budget deficits. The issue is whether that is feasible. This implies that it is necessary to obtain insights in the relation between cost of public transport on one hand and number of passengers and exploitation of production factors on the other. The objective of this paper is to present an outline of a quantitative micro- economic study to examine these issues empirically.
