Abstract

ITF Intertraffic GmbH, a Daimler-Benz company, and Siemens AG operate and test in close co-operation with the Senate of Berlin a dynamic traffic guidance system since February 1996 in Berlin. A study has been carried out by consultants in conjunction with ITF and Siemens in order to analyse the potential benefits of dynamic route guidance for individual drivers and the applicability of floating car data for the municipality. This paper focuses on the applicability of floating car data for the municipality and summarises experiences with the operation of a dynamic route guidance system.
