Abstract

Traffic signal systems play an important role in the management of urban traffic in Australian cities. In response to ever- growing traffic demands, Australia has developed an advanced control system for signal co- ordination- SCATS. This system is now used to control more than 2000 signals in Australia and overseas countries. Australia has also developed the SIDRA program for signalised intersection capacity and timing analysis. Both systems are discussed.
