Abstract

In this book the transport network optimization problem is stated mathematically and this is followed by an extensive and detailed survey of the most important and best known methods of solving this problem. A new technique is presented which yields a reasonable solution for large networks in a short computation time. The final section of the book is a case study where this technique is applied to the optimization of the Dutch road network.
