Abstract

This project was initiated to 1) develop a practical method of measuring the degree of change in network traffic flow resulting from various system modifications and 2) evaluate the degree of change resulting from practicable modifications. A network analysis study was conducted to evaluate various models for use in analysis of downtown area traffic flows; validation tests were performed and a model is proposed for this use. An extremely significant finding of this study was the importance of strict enforcement of traffic regulations to eliminate those violations that can nullify traffic engineering efforts.
