Abstract

A brief comparison is made of trends in the increase of efficacy of different lamp types and an outline of typical values for efficacy and colour properties of general purpose lamps is given. Ways of saving energy are discussed in relation to different areas of use. By the use of improved low pressure sodium lamp circuitry a saving of 25% can be reached in road and footway lighting.
