Abstract

Few transport studies in recent years have paid much attention to the use of road traffic law in improving the environment for the most vulnerable road user groups. This report seeks to redress this omission. It identifies four specific aspects of road traffic law with a view to examining the legal framework and how it could be applied to greater effect in order to better protect pedestrians and cyclists. The areas are driver responsibility; speed; sentencing; and children. (A)
