Abstract

The Dutch Minister for Transport, Public Works and Water Management presented in October 2000 a proposal for a new long-term traffic and transport policy for the period until 2020. This National Traffic and Transport policy (NTTP) replaces the Second Structural Traffic and Transport Plan (SVV-II) that was put in effect in 1990. The Transport Research Centre (AVV) of the Ministry for Transport, Public Works and Water Management conducted several ex-ante policy evaluations and studies for the preparation of the NTTP. This paper gives the methodology and results of the evaluation of the policy options for freight transport in The Netherlands until 2020.
