Abstract

The distance and the infrastructure for public transport to the inner city core of larger metropolitan areas are two important issues in the discussions about planning new dwelling locations. An important question is, in which way a given distance and infrastructure will result in a specific pattern or orientation and will have a specific effect on traffic. In order to come to a better understanding of this question, five existing urban districts, so called 'example districts', were compared, using the empiric PEROVAM-data of the city of Amsterdam.
