In residential areas a lot of infrastructural provisions aremade for bicycle and moped traffic from which the effects on for instance traffic safety, the use and the experience are not known sufficiently. This is in particular for the segregation between bicycle and moped by the use of the traffic sign: not compulsory cycle track. On these road sections the moped rider has to use the carriageway, while the cyclist has the free choice between the carriageway and the cycle track. Therefore a pilot study has been done into the effects of segregation of the bicycle and the moped on traffic safety, traffic flow and experience.
