Abstract

This report reviews the problems of elderly traffic participants as derived from statistical, experimental and gerontological publications. The presented data include changes in mobility, accident involvements and behavioural problems of car drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians. Cognitive and physical functional changes as a consequence of aging are reviewed and finally some educational objectives for elderly traffic participants are derived from theoretical possibilities of behavioural improvements.
