Abstract

This loose-leaf manual is meant for organizations and branches of Dutch associations for elderly people that want to improve the local traffic and transport situation, both for this target group and for other road users. The manual distinguishes four lines of approach: (1) the local infrastructure, including, for example: cycle tracks, footways, roads, pedestrian crossings and traffic regulations; (2) public transport, for example the presence and quality of routes and stopping places, and the timetable; (3) the traffic behaviour of road users in general and the use of the public road; and (4) activities such as training, education and publicity directed at traffic behaviour, traffic knowledge and traffic skills, with special reference to elderly people. The manual also contains an overview of organizations which can be helpful in the field of traffic and transport.
