Abstract

Every year the Centraal Bureau voor Statistiek (CBS) investigates the mobility of the Dutch population in cooperation with the Adviesdienst Verkeer en Vervoer (AVV). The CBS performs the survey and AVV finances the extension of the sample size. This survey is called Onderzoek naar Verplaatsingsgedrag (OVG). In the last years the cooperation between CBS and AVV became laborious. CBS asked more money and the budget of AVV deceased. A result of this, the sample size became smaller. Because of the decline of the sample size, the quality of the data also decreased. For the above reasons and the reason that OVG does not provide answers to topical questions, AVV decided to investigate in 2004 the mobility of the Dutch population on their own. The name of this survey is Mobliteits Onderzoek Nederland (MON). This new survey might be a chance to implement new subjects into the investigation of the mobility of the Dutch population. This chance of AVV to change the survey method from OVG to MON is a service innovation. The aim of this investigation is to acquire insight in the possibility to implement the daily crossing border passenger transport in Mobiliteits Onderzoek Nederland of the Adviesdienst Verkeer en Vervoer.
