Abstract
An experimental study of driver performance under controlled conditions is described. Details are given of the test track and vehicles, selection of driver samples, speeds of overtaking and overtaken cars, subject's task and instructions, recording equipment, and variables used in the study (time margin, distance margin, subjective estimated margin, distance to oncoming car, total overtaking time, total overtaking distance, following distance, and closing in distance).
