Abstract

The nature and scope of completed formal maintenance management programs in the U.S., since 1950 are reviewed. These studies included most facets of the maintenance management problem, such as: (1) Cost estimation and budgeting systems, (2) Interstate system maintenance requirements, (3) Performance standards, (4) Optimum equipment and work methods, and (5) Planning, directing, and controlling of labour.
