Developers of vehicle dynamics simulation software inherently use a mathematical / physical model to represent the vehicle. This paper describes a pre-programmed, object-oriented vehicle model for use in vehicle dynamics simulation. A general overview of the Human-Vehicle-Model (HVE) user and development environments are given, and detailed specifications for the HVE Vehicle Model are provided. These specifications include definitions for model parameters (supported vehicle types; vehicle properties, such as dimensions, inertias, suspensions, mu versus slip, cornering and camber stiffnesses; driver control systems, such as engine, transmission/differential, brakes and steering; restraint systems, steering; restraint systems, such as belts and airbags). Specifications are given of the HVE time-dependent vehicle group parameters (kinematics, kinetics, tyre data, wheel data, inter-vehicle corrections, drivetrain, driver controls, contact surface forces, and restraint system forces).
