Abstract

The Safety for Workers and Traffic (SWAT) Campaign (phase one) was a six month campaign conducted by WorkSafe Victorial. Phase two of the campaign has just commenced on 1 July, and will continue for twelve months. The aim of the SWAT campaign is "to promote and enforce safe traffic management practices at roadside worksites throughout Victoria." A blitz had been conducted utilising WorkSafe Victoria Construction & Utilities program personnel only during May 2004. This campaign highlighted the hazards involved with roadside work, and the need for a larger number of WorkSafe personnel to be involved.
