Abstract

In 1999, a research project named "Research & development on information communication technologies for ITS" has been established in the Telecommunication Advancement Organisation of Japan (TAO) in order to promote the ITS information system spread by realising basic infrastructure of ITS at an earlier stage. This project will be continued for 3 years until 2002 and is composed of three main technical themes: wireless agent technology, radio on fibre communication system technology and wireless multimodal terminal technology. This paper describes a network concept, developed system configuration, and items to be considered in the radio on fibre communication system applicable to communication between road and vehicles. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
