Abstract

Information infrastructure has been defined as a public sector responsibility. In Spring 1996 the Swedish Parliament passed Bill 1995/96:131 which specifies the Swedish National Road Administration, SNRA, sectorial responsibility for road informatics. The two cornerstones in the SNRA approach are development of a national road database (covering all roads in Sweden) and the development of a dynamic traffic information database. This session covers what has been achieved in the area so far and the plans for the Swedish ITS development.
