Abstract

Transportation planning procedures have been widely accepted and adopted in the many transportation studies which have been carried out in various motorised countries. The studies already undertaken in Australia have however, highlighted certain deficiencies in transportation planning. especially in relation to land use and urban planning. The more philosophical aspects of the transportation studies of Australian cities is commented and a suggestion for a more macroscopic approach is given.
