Abstract

The five papers in this volume describe analyses of car size safety and car size trends. Four of these papers (describing seat belt effectiveness by car weight class, occupant fatalities by car weight class and changes over time, an investigation of the consistency or car weight reporting, and registration- based fatality rates) were written as partial preparation for the fifth. The fifth was an exploration of the relative safety of cars in single nonrollover accidents.
