Together with parking policy measures usually measures are taken to protect residents. Different parking systems may be used. A variety of parking systems is present in the Dutch city of Enschede. Besides, there are some quarters where no parking measures have been implemented. In this paper, the results of a study into the different systems (including the situation where no measures have been taken) and satisfaction with respect to service of the municipality are presented. The more problems are experienced and the more difficult it is to find a parking place, the less satisfaction with the parking system. Dissatisfaction with the parking situation seems to influence the attitude to the implementation of a system and the willingness to pay for it positively. Residents appear to prefer a system where parking is only permitted in case one has a permit. A fixed, guaranteed place is not considered to be necessary. (A)
