Abstract

Up to now, parking measures are directed only at areas consisting of companies, offices and shops. In residential areas, the parking standard is based on the need for parking, and with that on the number of dwellings/households and the car ownership. It appears from a research conducted in the cities of The Hague and Utrecht that just a stringent parking policy in residential areas could contribute to the mobility purpose of the Second Transport Structure Plan (SVVII) to a large extent.
