Abstract

This paper describes the Parking Management Information Report being developed by the ITE Parking Council. This report will provide guidance on the implementation of approximately two-dozen parking management strategies. For each strategy the report provides a description, discusses its impacts, describes suitable applications, offers recommendations on how it is best implemented, and includes resources for more information. The report discusses how to develop an integrated parking management plan for a particular situation, and how to overcome common barriers to implementation. It describes examples of successful parking management programs. Parking management can help reduce costs, improve user quality-of-service and address various parking-related problems. Parking management is particularly important for smart growth, urban redevelopment, and affordable housing. This report should be of use to transport and land use planners, traffic engineers, developers, facility managers, transportation coordinators, and community economic development planners.
