Abstract

Some years back, blackening of the upper part of the headlights was tried in Delhi as a measure for reducing glare. Motorists in India drive with main driving headlight teams even on well lighted roads in Delhi. It is shown that blackening of any part of the headlight does not fulfil the basic objective to reduce the glare. Proper usage of headlight beams by road users can only be achieved by: engineering, education and enforcement.
