Abstract

The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) has conducted research into crashworthiness of rail vehicles on behalf of the rail industry with the objective of improving rail accident prevention and the protection of passengers. The research described in this report was initiated to identify the causes of injuries to passengers, to understand the way in which those injuries were sustained and to identify possible ways of reducing or eliminating such injuries.
