Abstract

Few technical innovations have aroused such violent feelings or created such extremist attitudes as the use of airbags for restraining passengers in motor cars during an accident. The U. S. safety standards are mentioned. The various airbag restraint systems developed, their disadvantages, and the latest developments in passive seat belts are discussed.
