Abstract

Nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide have a great importance as ambient air pollutants because of their effects on the respiratory system of both men and plants. In the Swiss Clean Air Act the air quality standards for these pollutants are promulgated and therefore a surveillance is needed. With the help of continuous monitoring systems a precise monitoring could be done but this way of measurement is restricted to only a few points.
