Abstract

A summary is provided of the 7-year process that led to the decision to develop the AASHTO "LRFD Bridges Design Specifications," the objectives, and draft review process culminating in adoption. The implementation and further development during the decade since are described, and an evolving plan to continue development of the limit states specifications for design and rating of bridges is presented. Training materials--past, current, and planned--are also reviewed.
