Abstract

The effectiveness of a supplemental restraint system/air bag (AB) in preventing fatal injuries and reducing severity of injury in frontal collisions has been based on field crash investigations and extrapolation of data from the engineering literature. The objective of this scientific poster is to describe the patterns and distribution of vertebral injuries seen in drivers of cars equipped with a functioning AB.
