Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2068 includes 15 papers that explore pavement condition sampling for life-cycle management, a new finite element analysis tool for pavement crack propagation, prediction models for transverse cracking of jointed concrete pavements, innovation in automated analysis of cross-slope data, perpetual pavements, and multiple wheel–load interaction in flexible pavements. This issue of the TRR: Journal also examines a neural network for analysis of rigid pavement deflection data, deflection data averaging from repeated loads, rut accumulation and power law models, identifying the cause of premature distresses, truck hydroplaning, effects of rib tires on hydroplaning, effect of rubber deposits on runway friction, three-dimensional measurements of pavement macrotexture, and a targeted program to improve skid resistance.
