Abstract

The level of service provided during rush-hour traffic was evaluated by two facilities in radically different in design and determination made as to what degree a driver would either accept or be accommodated on each facility. The study site selected was a freeway and the alternate surface street route the motorist would take if the freeway ramp was closed. Seven variables resulting from driver reactions were measured by the galvanic skin response instrument and his output to the vehicle measured through the drivometer.
